"What Is Important?"
On August 9,2009 I was rushed by ambulance to Harbor UCLA hospital. I could not breathe and did not have the strength to stand. Upon arrival to the Emergency Room, I was quickly ushered to surgery. After thirty and some odds years of abusing my body, it had finally had enough. My first surgery entailed putting a chest tube into my body so I could breathe. There was so much liquid in my lungs, it was stopping them from expanding. I had a full blown case of pneumonia! Also, I had what is known as empyema. This is a build up of pus in a body cavity. In my case, it was in my lungs. Every breath I took was an effort. I had no idea at the time, that the combination of pneumonia and empyema can have DEADLY results. My second surgery came days later when the surgeons cut me open and scraped all the abuse off my lungs. I developed a serious problem because now there was a hole in my lungs. Even on oxygen, I wasn't getting enough air. This went on for about eighteen hours and just as quickly as it started, it stopped. My lungs, through the grace of GOD, had repaired themselves and I was able to breathe with the aid of the oxygen. There was a lot of drama going on because I was bedridden for over two weeks and the doctors thought I might not walk again. Even today, I'm still going to different treatments to cure the aftermath of this ordeal.
"THIS I LEARNED"
GOD is no joke. It was through HIS grace and the prayers of my beloved prayer group, and many others, that I am alive today.
Always listen to your spouse because they ALWAYS know better than you! (thanks Allison...I owe you a big one)
If you smoke, or know anyone who does, please send them to my testimony. I know from first hand experience, that no cigar is THAT GOOD!
Well, I'm still in the process of putting Humpty back together again and making sure I stay away from walls! I have resumed gigging and I'm getting stronger everyday. I thank everyone from around the world, who prayed for my recover.
